Initial Experience with Thrombotest.

چکیده
The initial experience of using Thrombotest instead of Quick's one-stage prothrombin time to control anticoagulant therapy is described.Patients well controlled by the Quick test are often found to be over-anticoagulated by Thrombotest standards, so the introduction of Thrombotest has led to widespread reductions in dosage. No improvement in stability of control has been noted. The main advantages of Thrombotest seem to be its technical simplicity and the comparability of results obtained in different laboratories.

Thrombotest Values in Low Birthweight Infants
Appleyard, W. J., and Cottom, D. G. (1970). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 45, 705. Effect of asphyxia on thrombotest values in low birthweight infants. Thrombotest was used as a measure of coagulation status in 55 low birthweight infants. The initial levels were similar in both babies who were asphyxiated at birth and in those who had uncomplicated deliveries. On the other hand, 24 hours af...
متن کاملFate of surviving low-birth-weight infants with coagulation deficiencies on the first day of life.
Fifty-two surviving low-birth-weight infants who had low Thrombotest (Owren) results on the first day, together with the same number of matched controls with higher Thrombotest results, were examined for the integrity of their central nervous system. Gross abnormalities were found in 13.5% of the low Thrombotest group compared with 1.9% in the higher group. Minor brain damage syndromes were mor...
متن کاملThe British system for anticoagulant control and Thrombotest.
A study has been made to determine whether a reliable comparison can be made between the British Comparative Thromboplastin and Thrombotest using the nationally adopted standardization procedure. The method recommended appeared sufficiently satisfactory and statistically valid for the comparison between the British Comparative Thromboplastin and Thrombotest. The degree of diversion in the locat...
متن کاملPoint of care monitoring of oral anticoagulant therapy in children: comparison of CoaguChek Plus and Thrombotest methods with venous international normalised ratio.
This paper reports the outcome of a research protocol aimed at optimising warfarin monitoring in a tertiary pediatric centre. The Thrombotest INR was the standard monitoring test employed to manage oral anticoagulant therapy in children at the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH), Melbourne. This study compares the results of this standard method to the novel CoaguChek INR monitor and the "gold stan...
متن کاملVitamin K and Thrombotest values in full term infants.
The vitamin K dependent clotting factors were measured by the 'Thrombotest' on the second day of life in 72 healthy full term babies, half of whom had received vitamin K at birth. Forty eight of these were breast fed, and those not given vitamin K had significantly lower Thrombotest values than those who had received vitamin K. By contrast, administration of vitamin K did not affect the Thrombo...
